WordPress Plugin using a separate MS-Access Database

I am working on a WordPress website. One of the plugin of this website is using a MS-Access 2007 database and uses a DSN connection. This is the first time that I have seen a plugin using a separate Access database. I want to add a table to this database and a short code in the plugin. I was just wondering that if I download this database and add a table and upload back to the server then will I have to update the DSN or just upload the file will work?
